So-- Operation Reset My Sleep Schedule is well under way. I've been setting my alarm for 6:45 and managing to be fully awake by 8:30, which is actually not bad for me. I figure by Monday, when I actually have to get up at 6:45 for court, I'll be able to do so.

I still hate mornings.

Although, we are getting into Second Summer (the hot season) here, and mornings are the coolest time of day.

Still, somehow, having 3 hours of free time in the morning doesn't seem to be the same, somehow, as having 3 hours free time before bed. I wonder why that is?

I understand what you're saying perfectly. I'm not sure what your work schedule is, but the reason I can't enjoy morning hours to myself is that I know I'll be going to work soon and I feel like I can't really get into anything because I'll have to put it down when it's time for work. I know the same thing holds true for putting it down when it's time for bed, but somehow it just doesn't feel the same.

That makes sense. For me, also, I think it's the fact that my biological clock is really hard to reset. If I wake up too early, I stay groggy for hours.

BTW, I love your new userpic!!

If you sort out why 3 hours in morning isn't the same as 3 hours at night, pass it along? I've got much the same problem.s

I think it's partly because I'm always more tired in the morning than I am at night, which must just be biological. But there's also a psychological factor. If you have morning time free, you feel like running errands or putting in laundry. If you have evening time free, you feel like you can watch a movie or hang out on LJ :)

Exactly! That's one of the reasons I'm stuck in extreme night-owlishness. That schedule gives me lots and lots of downtime, which I apparently crave in large quantities. What else are you going to do at 2 in the morning besides relax in front of the TV or at the computer?

This may explain my bf's behavior a lot, actually... For all my night-owlishness, I'm almost always in bed before him.

There's just something so relaxing about winding down in the evening by reading or doing some other pleasant activity. As the previous commenter said, it seems to spoil some of the pleasure in an activity when you know it will inevitably be cut short by something less pleasant like work.

True. I think I'm also just not a morning person by nature.
